FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Everything You Need to Know
Leaving your pet with someone new can be a tough decision, and you probably have plenty of questions. I’ve gathered some of the most frequently asked ones below, but feel free to reach out if you need more information.

GENERAL FAQs
Can I meet you first?
Yes. I recommend this for every new client. I offer a meet and greet service so we can get to know each other and your pet can get to know me. These last up to 30 minutes and are free. You can book a meet and greet service here or via phone or email.

Do I need to fill out any forms?
Yes please! I will send you the forms beforehand for your completion. These will need to be returned before services commence.

What areas do you cover?
I’m based in Hemel Hempstead and typically cover an 8-10 mile radius. If your location is a little further, I’m happy to discuss travel arrangements and any small additional fees before confirming your booking.

Can you administer my pet’s medication?
I am not a trained veterinarian, but I am able to administer oral medication to your pet, in accordance with your written instructions and consent as per the Medication Administration Consent form.

DOG WALKING FAQs
Do you walk dogs off the lead?
I will only allow dogs off the lead with your written consent and when I believe it’s safe. If your dog’s recall isn’t always reliable, I can use a long lead to let them run and play safely while maintaining control.

What lead do you use when you walk my dog?
I carry my own leads as a backup, but I’m happy to use one you provide. I just ask to do a quick safety check of the harness and lead each time to ensure everything is secure and safe for your dog.
My dog can be aggressive with other dogs or people and must wear a muzzle, can you still walk them?
I’m happy to accommodate dogs with specific needs, including those who may require a muzzle or have behavioural concerns. Solo walks are ideal for keeping things calm and stress-free. If your dog has any aggression issues, I’ll work with you to create a care plan that suits them. To ensure the best experience for your dog, I kindly ask that any behavioural issues are disclosed in advance. If needed, I may suggest adjusting the walking arrangements for their well-being. Failure to disclose behavioural issues beforehand may result in the need to cancel future walks to ensure the safety and comfort of both your dog and myself.
Do your services cater for all dog breeds?
Yes! I love all dogs and am happy to walk any breed, but I will always arrange a meet and greet first. I want to make sure we’re a good match. If, after the meet and greet, I feel that we might not be the right fit, I’ll let you know. For dogs with behavioural concerns, I’ll communicate with you to develop a care plan. For me, it's all about personalities, not just breeds!

How do you transport the dogs to the walk location?
I walk dogs locally, so feel free to recommend your dog’s favourite parks! I’ll walk from your home to nearby spots, as there are usually great places within walking distance.
It’s bad weather today, are you still able to walk my dog?
Yes, I’ll be there rain or shine. If you have a towel ready, I can dry your dog off as best I can. If your dog isn’t keen on walking in the rain, I can switch to a home visit for the hour to keep them company indoors. If a home visit isn't an option, the booking will be treated as a cancellation, and 100% of the original price will be charged.

How many dogs will be walked at one time?
I specialise in solo walks, which most of my clients prefer as it ensures your dog gets my full attention. Solo walks are also ideal for nervous or reactive dogs. For group walks (only dogs from the same household), I can walk up to four dogs at a time.

PET VISITS & HOUSE SITTING
Do you offer house sitting?
Yes, I offer house sitting upon request, with each request being treated individually. As I have limited availability for house sitting, I recommend getting in touch as far in advance as possible to secure your booking. To make a request, please fill out the Contact Form or email me at bookings@purrsandtails.co.uk. I currently don't have the facilities to board pets, but by offering house sitting, your pet can stay in their familiar environment, receiving my full attention without the stress of relocation.
Can my pet stay with you?
Currently, I do not have the facilities to board pets in my own home. For dogs, I offer house sitting in your home, ensuring they stay in a familiar environment and receive my full attention. For cats, I provide daily visits to your home to care for them. This way, your pet stays comfortable and stress-free, without the need for relocation.
My pet has specific needs/behavioural issues, will you still be able to look after them?
Absolutely! I’m happy to care for pets with specific needs or behavioral issues. Every pet is unique, and I will do my best to accommodate their requirements. During our meet and greet, we’ll discuss your pet's needs, routines, and any behavioral concerns to ensure I provide the best care possible. If your pet requires medication or has special care instructions, please let me know in advance, and I’ll ensure everything is managed. My goal is to provide a safe, stress-free experience for you, your pet, and me. If at any point I feel we may not be the best fit, I’ll communicate openly with you, but I always strive to find the right care plan that works for everyone.
